First Five Hawaiʻi is proud to share information about free events happening all over the state, from educational workshops to family-friendly activities. These events are made to help your child grow and learn, and help families connect with their communities.

Read To (or Visit) A Therapy Dog!

Looking for a fun and encouraging way to help your keiki build confidence in reading? The Hawaiʻi State Public Library is hosting Read to a Therapy Dog, where children can practice reading aloud in a relaxed, judgment-free environment with specially trained therapy dogs from K9 Therapets Hawaiʻi. Families are also welcome to simply visit with the dogs. Twenty-minute sessions are available by sign-up, with walk-ins welcome as space permits.

85th Annual Nā Hula Festival

Celebrate the beauty and tradition of hula at the 85th Annual Nā Hula Festival on Sunday, August 2nd, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the historic bandstand in Kapiʻolani Park. Hawaiʻi's longest-running annual non-competitive hula festival is free and open to the public, featuring performances by renowned hula hālau, talented musicians, the Royal Hawaiian Band, and the 2025 Lei Queen and her court. Korea Fest

Experience the vibrant sights, sounds, and flavors of Korea at the 22nd Annual Korean Festival Hawaiʻi! Join the festivities on Saturday, August 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kapiʻolani Park in Honolulu for this free, family-friendly celebration of Korean culture. The festival will feature live entertainment, K-pop performances, cultural exhibits, authentic Korean cuisine, hands-on activities, a kids' zone, fashion show, community organizations, and special guest appearances. Whether you're discovering Korean culture for the first time or celebrating your heritage, there's something for the entire ʻohana to enjoy. Admission is free, so come spend the day experiencing the spirit of culture, community, and connection.
