First Five Hawaiʻi is proud to share information about free events happening all over the state, from educational workshops to family-friendly activities. These events are made to help your child grow and learn, and help families connect with their communities.
Hawaiʻi’s largest used booksale returns this June to Ward Centre Mall (1200 Ala Moana Blvd.), located on the ʻEwa end in the former Roger Dunn/Famous Footwear space at the corner of Ala Moana Blvd. and Kamakeʻe St. Presented by Hawaiʻi State Federal Credit Union, the sale features more than 125,000 books and media items across every genre imaginable. Since 1947, this beloved island tradition has brought together readers of all ages to discover new and used books, bestsellers, hidden gems, and unbeatable bargains.

Children of kamaʻāina and military under 12 receive FREE admission to Waimea Valley Bring the little ones for a day outside, exploring nature, and learning about Hawaiian culture and history. Take a ʻukulele class, or stamp mulberry paper with our resident artisans. Make a lei, or learn about medicinal plants with our cultural staff. Swim in the waterfall, and enjoy a shave ice at the Wailele Snack Bar. *Must present proof of Hawaiian residency or military ID

This one is for the moms and mom-dads! The Gimme A Break Garden Retreat is a FREE event that gets Caregivers out in nature. A leisurely stroll through Queen Liliuokalani Gardens that include; Grounding, meditation and a connection to our 5 senses while connecting to a local community of caregivers.

The 12th Annual Back to School Bash will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the Kukui Grove Center in Līhuʻe from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM. The event features Kauai's largest school supply giveaway, along with free family entertainment, keiki activities, and educational resources.
