Housing Choice Vouchers (formerly known as Section 8)

The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program (once called Section 8) gives rental assistance to low-income families in the private rental market. This program lets people pick a home that meets the program’s rules,  not limited to subsidized housing projects. The HCV program is run by the Hawaii Public Housing Authority and is currently available only on O‘ahu. This flexibility gives families more affordable housing options.
