State of Hawai`i Housing

The Hawaii Public Housing Authority also runs the State Family and State Elderly public housing programs. These are separate from the federal public housing program. The State Family public housing is for people of any age who meet the rules, while the State Elderly public housing is for people aged 62 and older. These programs are funded by the state, so they do not use federal money. These programs have a total of 864 units all over the state.
